The distillery is situated in a rich green valley through which two pristine streams flow. The Miyagikyo Distillery was built by Masataka Taketsuru and his young employees as a place where the future of whisky could be realized. In addition to richly floral and mild unblended malts, a variety of new ideas are being attempted here as well.
